For thousands of years, grain and grain products have been among man's most valuable foods.
Cereal grain contains nearly all the nutrients we need for our dietary requirements. Carbohydrates (starch), fat and proteins supply our body with energy or serve as the building blocks for growth and development. Vitamins and minerals are needed to regulate body functions such as metabolic processes and the activity of nerves and muscles.

Dietary fibre in the grain is not superfluous dietary matter, but fulfils very important tasks in digestion:
- it satisfies by remaining in the stomach for longer,
- it stimulates bowel activity,
- it can prevent diseases of the colon,
- it supplies very little energy (calories).
